School and Education Privacy

PointBase Education stores the information needed to provide its classroom features. This may include a teacher's name, email address and school name; class names and grade groups; student roster display names; challenge codes; scores; answer results; and the questions answered correctly or incorrectly.

This information is used to confirm educator profiles, run classroom and homework challenges, maintain class rosters, calculate scores, and provide progress reports to the teacher. PointBase does not sell this data, use it for behavioral advertising, or disclose it for unrelated commercial purposes.

Students do not need to provide an email address, home address, phone number, or PointBase account to join a classroom challenge. Teachers should use student initials or classroom nicknames when required by their school or district and should never enter identification numbers, medical information, or other sensitive student information.

Challenge participants can see the display names and scores used during their shared game room. Saved classroom rosters and detailed answer reports are intended for the registered educator's portal. PointBase does not provide public student profiles, open messaging, or unrestricted student-to-student communication.

PointBase uses limited operational providers, including website hosting and email delivery, to run the service. These providers may process data only as needed to provide those services. PointBase does not authorize them to use classroom data for their own advertising.

Educators must obtain any approval required by their school or district before entering student information. Teacher profiles require email confirmation before activation. Educators can remove roster entries, classrooms, associated reports and rooms, or their complete education account.

Teacher passwords are stored using one-way password hashing rather than as readable passwords. Signed-in teacher actions use a secure, limited-duration browser session. Teachers should use a unique password and sign out on shared school computers.

Challenge-room records expire after 30 days. Saved teacher reports expire after 12 months unless deleted sooner. PointBase Education is currently in beta. We use reasonable safeguards and limit the information requested, but no online service can promise absolute security.
