Student and Family Notice
What happens during a classroom challenge
A student enters a teacher-provided challenge code and a classroom display name. PointBase records answers, correct and incorrect results, score, and challenge participation so the teacher can run the activity and review learning progress.
Students are not asked for an email address, home address, telephone number, birth date, identification number, photograph, camera, microphone, or personal PointBase account. Teachers should use initials or classroom nicknames whenever required by school policy.
Display names and scores may be visible to participants in the same challenge room. PointBase does not provide public student profiles, open chat, or unrestricted student communication.
Data Inventory
Only information needed for the education service
PointBase does not sell education data, use it for behavioral advertising, create unrelated commercial profiles, or permit unrelated data-broker use.
Service Providers
Limited operational processing
PointBase uses Hostinger for website hosting and server operation. The configured email service processes teacher email addresses and account messages. Providers may process limited information only to deliver, secure, maintain, or troubleshoot PointBase. PointBase does not authorize providers to use classroom information for their own advertising.
The provider list will be updated before a material provider change. Schools may contact PointBase for current hosting-location and contract information during review.
Retention and Deletion
Data is not kept indefinitely
- Challenge-room records automatically expire 30 days after their last activity.
- Saved teacher reports automatically expire after 12 months.
- Removing a student removes that display name and associated results from the selected class, its reports, and active rooms.
- Deleting a class removes its roster, reports, and active rooms.
- Deleting an education account removes the teacher profile, classes, reports, and associated rooms.
Limited security logs or backups may persist temporarily where required for security, recovery, fraud prevention, or legal obligations and should be deleted on the applicable backup schedule.
Security
Safeguards for classroom information
Teacher passwords are one-way hashed. Education actions require an authenticated, limited-duration browser session. Repeated failed sign-in attempts trigger a temporary lockout. Data files are blocked from direct web access, and teacher reports are not public.
Teachers should use unique passwords, sign out of shared devices, distribute challenge codes only to intended participants, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
School Review
Approval belongs with the school or district
PointBase is designed to support education privacy review, including data minimization, school-purpose limits, educator control, and deletion. Registration does not mean a school board or district has approved PointBase. Educators must follow local approval, consent, acceptable-use, procurement, and records requirements.
PointBase does not shift its own legal responsibilities to teachers or schools. A school may request additional documentation or a data privacy agreement before authorizing classroom use.
Access, Correction, and Deletion
Schools and families can make a request
Teachers can remove students, classes, reports, and their complete education account from the teacher portal. A parent, eligible student, school, or district may request access, correction, deletion, or an end to further collection by contacting support@playpointbase.com.
To protect students, PointBase will verify the requester through the school or educator account before releasing or deleting classroom information. Do not email sensitive student records; initially provide the school, teacher email, class name, and student display name.
