Classroom Pilot Guide
A controlled first-use plan for teachers, school leaders, technology teams, students, and families.
Before the Pilot
Complete your school’s review first
- Confirm the teacher is authorized to test PointBase and determine whether district technology, privacy, curriculum, procurement, accessibility, or parent approval is required.
- Review the School Privacy Center, Education Terms, Privacy Policy, and Accessibility statement.
- Use initials, classroom nicknames, or other school-approved roster identities. Do not enter student email, birth date, address, identification number, health information, or photographs.
- Document the pilot owner, class, date, devices, purpose, support contact, and the school’s decision.
Teacher Setup
Prepare a secure, calm first session
- Create the class roster and privately distribute each student’s four-digit PIN. Keep PINs hidden while the teacher screen is projected.
- Test one student device before class, including sign-in, answer selection, audio level, reconnect behavior, and screen readability.
- Begin with a 10-question supervised challenge. Keep a non-digital math activity ready if connectivity is interrupted.
- After the session, review the report, remove test identities, and report any unexpected access or display problem.
Student and Family Notice
Explain the activity in plain language
Students use a teacher-approved display name, challenge code, and private PIN. PointBase records their answers, correct and incorrect results, score, and participation so their teacher can run the math activity and review progress. Students do not need a PointBase account or email address. Names and scores may appear to others in the same room.
Students should keep their PIN private, use only their own roster identity, and tell the teacher if another person enters their name or if something unexpected appears.
Support and Incidents
Know what to do before the lesson starts
For regular help, contact support@playpointbase.com. For suspected unauthorized access or exposure, use the subject “Urgent PointBase Education Incident” and include the school, teacher email, class, approximate time, and challenge code without attaching unnecessary student records.
The teacher can end an active game, remove a student identity, delete a class, reset the account password, or delete the education account. Follow the school’s internal incident and parent-notification procedure as well.
Pilot Review
Decide from evidence, not excitement alone
After the pilot, record device reliability, joining time, accessibility barriers, student engagement, question suitability, report usefulness, privacy concerns, and support needs. Do not expand use until unresolved safety, privacy, accessibility, or reliability concerns have an owner and response.
